The Downeast Flyer

David Tutweiler's evocative paintings of Maine Central #470 in her glory years are available in several ways.  The original oil paintings remain on exhibit and for sale, while high quality copies, reasonably priced and in several formats, are now available for purchase. Fine art giclée reproductions are available through Tutweiler Fine Art.

David and Line' Tutweiler create beautiful oil and watercolor railroad, Star Wars, and Disney art. Their railroad paintings are owned around America, in notable private collections.  As supporters of New England Steam Corporation, the Tutweilers are donating a portion from each Maine Central 470 painting sale to fund the restoration of the locomotive.

Railroad artist Richard Symmes has produced an elegant pencil sketch of 470 waiting under the Bangor Union Station train shed, which we have titled "The Last Departure." A limited edition of fifty prints of "The Last Departure" have been personally numbered and signed by the artist. Mr. Symmes has taken extraordinary care to detail the big Pacific exactly as she appeared on that rainy morning in 1954. The image measures 11" x 15", with plenty of border for matting. New England Steam is selling these prints for $25.00 each plus $6.00 shipping & handling. They will not be produced again.
